Easy Cannabis Infused Oil a.k.a. Canna-oil

Welcome Back!

So, I woke up the other day and my throat was KILLING ME! I felt as though I had either spend the night screaming at a Hall and Oats concert or smoking an entire pack of cigarettes. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t see Darryl, or John and seeing as I’ve recently quit smoking cigarettes, I can rule out the last possibility as well. Now, this is were my little stoner brain has rationalized my marijuana habit’s harmful side-effects.

Smoking cigarettes is bad for your health because tobacco lacks any medicinal properties ON TOP of inhaling all the combusted plant matter. Smoking pot is better for your health, I’m still inhaling plant material but, at least I’m getting the pain relief I need. SIDE NOTE: Marijuana smoke contains roughly 4 times as much tar as cigarettes. As much as I’d like to say the benefits outweigh the risks, that’s simply not the case. There is a better, healthier option. Edibles!!

I’ve seen a lot of recipes online recently for “quick canna-oil” that claim to have the same potency as the long infusion methods. After trying both, I can say that the long infusion method is the way to go. Here’s my latest technique:

In a CrockPot: Pour 2 cups oil (coconut, olive oil, veggie, whatever you like)

Turn the CrockPot on low for 20 minutes then change to warm. Add 1 oz finely ground marijuana onto the warmed oil. Stir gently with a wooden spoon and let sit for unto 20 hours, stirring every hour or so. It is essential that you not let the oil heat above 175 degrees F, try to keep it between 160-170.

Once you have reached the desired cooking time, strain the oil through two layers of cheese cloth. Makes sure to squeeze out all that goodness!

Now, enjoy your homemade cannabis oil by using it in pretty much any recipe that called for oil. Remember, test your brownies in a safe environment and allow aproximately 1 hour for the effects to start. Eating cannabis edibles lends itself to a body buzz type of high. It’s wonderful when considering a long lasting pain management option without the unwanted health risks associated with smoking.
